After dedicating 10 years to working as a Mortgage Advisor at the Halifax, I decided to take a career break to focus on raising my family. Moving to a small village led to a new adventure, purchasing a pub and restaurant with my husband. Together, we transformed a run-down village pub into a thriving business, which we successfully sold just a year before the onset of the pandemic.
Throughout our time in the hospitality industry, I gained invaluable experience in managing a variety of functions, from charity events to parties, weddings, and wakes. The opportunity to create memorable experiences for others was truly fulfilling and it honed my skills in customer service, event coordination, and team management.
Following our departure from the hospitality trade, I chose to pursue a childhood passion and retrained as a vocal coach and singing teacher. This new chapter allowed me to work with a wide range of individuals, from young children to senior citizens, helping them discover and develop their voices. It has been an incredibly rewarding journey, as I have been able to empower my students with confidence and a sense of achievement, watching them overcome their own challenges and reach new heights in their vocal abilities.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping people through various stages of their lives: assisting them in buying a home, planning a wedding, singing a solo and even selling or letting their properties. These diverse experiences have enriched my understanding of people and how best to support them through significant milestones.
On a personal note, I have been happily married for 32 years after randomly meeting my soulmate at a Michael Jackson concert at Wembley. Between us we have three beautiful daughters and two gorgeous grandchildren. In my free time, I love to support my daughters in their singing careers, travelling to various holiday parks, clubs and theatres to watch them perform. As a self-taught sound technician, I still find myself getting involved behind the scenes, even though they are now very capable on their own.
With a strong belief in the power of building relationships, my 30 year friendships from the Halifax are testament to that. I consider myself to be 100% a "people person." My varied career path has equipped me with the skills needed to excel in the Sales and Lettings business, and I am committed to making a positive difference in every interaction. Whether helping a family find their dream home or guiding someone through a personal journey, I am passionate about using my experience and dedication to help others achieve their goals.
Things I love:
Family, Friends, Singing, Dogs, Amazon Prime!
Things I hate:
Beetroot & Running (just why)
Silly Fact:
Growing up near Elstree film studio’s, I have chased many famous people down the high street to get their autographs, including George Michael. Maybe this is why I don’t like running - I was never fast enough!
I started my career working within the Banking sector, spending 2 years at Barclays Bank followed by a further 10 years at the Halifax. I worked my way through the ranks and just before starting my family was the Manager of an award-winning telephone sales department. Throughout this time my skill set included being a Mortgage Advisor, Underwriter and Team Head.
After a short career break bringing up my two children, I started work at the local primary school and qualified as a level 3 special educational needs teaching assistant. This was incredibly rewarding, and I enjoyed 5 years within this setting.
It wasn’t long before the pull of the financial work had me back and I joined a Mortgage Brokers working in a small team being a case handler. I then went on to spend 3 years as a self-employed paraplanner for an IFA before joining Viv at Smooth Move Estates.
I have known Viv (owner of Smooth Move) for over 30 years after becoming lifelong friends at the very start of my working journey. Sharing all key lifetime milestones.
On a personal note, my passion is helping people: whether it be family, friends or clients. I feel my experiences in my work settings have given me the skills and patience to help people on their own journeys. Tenants, Landlords, Vendors or buyers I can be there to support them all.
Things I love:
Family, Friends, my 3 lovely cats!
Things I hate:
Sprouts!
Silly Fact:
I went to New York to watch the Lennox Lewis v Evander Holyfield fight in 1999 and
just before it started I banged my head on a shelf, nearly knocking myself out!
I spent 30 years working in the manufacturing sector for British and European furniture manufacturers, focussing my efforts as a Director on export sales to Europe for the most part, but also selling to the Middle East, Asia, Australia, New Zealand. I've lived in both Spain and Singapore previously, but have since returned to the UK to retrain in estates and lettings where I've honed my craft for the last 4 years.
